
This scarf of "the boy with the basket of fruit" was painted by Caravaggio between 1593 and 1594 shortly after his arrival from Lombardi to Rome where he became a pupil in the atelier of Cavalier d'Arpino who owned the painting until Pope Paul V confiscated it in 1607.
This masterpiece, together with other works became part of the collection of the pope's favorite nephew Cardinal Scipione Borghese. This scarf in twill silk is entirely made in Italy and in inspired form this painting, part of the collection of Galleria Borghese in Rome.
